Dear Parents,
I would personally like to welcome you to this school year! I believe it will be an exhilarating year for your children. It will be full of challenges that our class will meet and exceed. This year, your child will explore scientific phenomenon, develop writing skills, and learn a variety of structures of literature. We will learn fractions, multiplication tables, elapsed time, and numerous other mathematical skills. Your child will find that there will be continuous opportunities to develop their skills and knowledge. A little bit about me: I am a graduate of the University of South Florida with a bachelor’s in Elementary Education with an ESOL endorsement. I grew up with a love for learning and I became a teacher to encourage that in others as it had been done for me. I’ve always lived in the Tampa Bay area but regularly travel and visit historical buildings and landmarks in some of America’s oldest cities. I love to go to movies, amusement parks, baseball games, new restaurants, and concerts. I must admit that shopping is my favorite pastime! Curling up with a great book and coffee is also high on my list! I am enthusiastic about the new school year. Each year at Plato has been amazing and I am so thankful to be beginning my 14th year here with so many involved and supportive parents! Third grade is an exciting time. Students will not only learn new and engaging curriculum, they will also learn responsibilities that will be expected of them as they leave primary and enter intermediate grades. Student behavior will be monitored consistently to develop an atmosphere conducive to learning and I encourage you to praise your child every chance you get for having a great day and making good choices! I will check student agendas daily and this is the most efficient means of communication. I know that with home and school working together this will be a successful year. In your Parent Packet you will find our behavior system, items of importance, and other pieces of information important for the upcoming year. Please read each page carefully with your child, sign it, and return by the date indicated. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and support. It can be a lot of information, so please hang on to the packet and reference for future things like birthdays, fieldtrips, etc. that may come up. Let me know if you have any questions. Also, we may at times be in need of volunteers. Some things can be done at home and others at school. I will let you know as needs arise and if you are able to help out it will be greatly appreciated. Finally, we are going to have a wonderful time meeting this year’s expectations! I believe that every one of my students will both inspire and be inspired this year. I look forward to working with you and your child. Sincerely, Mrs. Harvey |
